Why Youth Life Coaching

Adults have long benefitted from the support of a variety of coaching services: life coaching, executive or career coaching, leadership coaching to name a few.

All of us need a non-judgmental adult in our lives at some point or the other, to help gain clarity and confidence to work towards the best version of ourselves.

Given how many changes teens and young adults undergo, it seems fitting that they would benefit from a coach to cheerlead them through setting and achieving their own goals. This thinking is what led me to train to become the first Certified Youth Resilience Coach in Hong Kong, accredited by the International Coaching Federation, USA.

My client focus is teens and young adults between the ages of 13 and 25 years. Through evidence and research based coaching techniques, I help support the growth and maximise the potential of young people.

Coaching is not Counselling or Therapy

Coaching is a non-directive approach to helping functional clients enhance well being in their personal, academic and professional lives.

Coaching aims to assist clients to move from functional to thriving. It is suited for those with mild to low levels of distress.

Counselling or Therapy serves clients who are experiencing dysfunction related to psychological symptoms that interfere with their daily lives.

Counselling or Therapy aims to assist clients who need support to move to a functional state. It tends to be a better fit for those experiencing moderate to severe levels of distress.

Some clients who are in Counselling or Therapy might also benefit from Coaching. An example would be of a teen with ADHD undergoing therapy and working with an Executive Functioning Coach to learn time management and organisational skills.
